The most important measurements to be considered are backplate fixing centres as well as lever/key hole dimensions. Check these carefully against your existing measurements prior to placing an order.

Lever/Pad

It is essential to ensure that when you choose a new set of Upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the spindle of the handle to the centre of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because these must be lined up so that the doors remain locked, whether you are looking from the inside or outside. Our handles are designed to fit the majority of standard cylinders, but it is a good idea to double-check before purchasing.

If you wish to upgrade to dual spindle levers you will need to remove the existing handles and take apart the lock case. This will require an extra split inline cylinder. These can be bought separately, and we provide a full technical diagram to take a look at in the pictures for each product.

Once you have removed the screws that hold your existing door handle it is a good idea to loosen them, and then inspect the mechanism to determine what condition it is in. If the screws aren't tight enough, you may need to loosen them further. Then, you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with a new Upvc handle. Before putting the handle in the frame, it is a good idea to ensure that it is in the correct position, and you can do this by putting your finger in the gap between the door frame and the handle to ensure that it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles for doors are used to operate a multi-point lock with a euro lock handles cylinder. They can be found on many upvc double glazing window handle doors, as well as on some wooden and aluminium doors. They feature a lever inside and an outside paddle and are typically available in two different types. Sprung - These have a spring cassette fitted within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever into the horizontal position. Non-sprung - these do not have a spring mechanism and must be manually pulled to raise the handle lever back to its horizontal position.

Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can take it out using the help of a screwdriver.

Once the handle is in a horizontal position you can re-install the screws and tighten them until the handle is secure on the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the screw threads in order to increase grip and prevent them from loosing over time.

Drooping lever handles on external Door handles handles could be the result of a number of factors. The most common reason is that the fixings have been over tightened and are putting strain on the lever bearing which causes it to become a bind on the door's face. It is also possible that the levers may not have been operated at the correct angle, which compresses the latch mechanism and prevents it from fully springing into action.

The most common reason for a sprung lever not working properly is that the spring is not being in the proper position on the backplate. To determine whether the handle has returned to its horizontal position, simply turn it.
